Thus it is assumed that the kinema originated from Limbu communities, who reside in the Eastern Himalayan region. because the common word kinema is derived from”Kinamba”,of the limbu dialect in which ‘Ki’ means fermentation and ‘Namba’means flavour. It is very similar to japanese nattō and Akhuni of Northeast India.
